
To Remove the Shifter on a 2004 Ford Focus, you have to remove the gear shift knob by unscrewing it from the lever with your hand. You need to pry around the perimeter of the gear shifter bezel, the plastic panel surrounding the shifter and its boot with using a flat-head screwdriver. After that, Lift the gearshift bezel and boot upward until you can access the wiring harnesses plugged into the bezel-mounted electronics. You must unplug the wiring harnesses and pull the bezel as well as boot from the shifter lever. Then, Find the two cables attached to the base of the shift lever.
You should pry the end of each cable from their mounting balls on the gear shift lever with a flat-head screwdriver. Next, remove the three bolts. You can secure the shifter with using a ratchet and socket. You have to remove the shifter assembly from the Focus. Forth, Guide the gear shifter assembly back into place in the vehicle and tighten its mounting bolts with a ratchet and socket.
